We have 2 New Beers on tap this weekend!  Smart A** is a Belgian-style Wit Bier, light in color and body, with flavors of coriander and sweet orange peel.  El Dorado is an American Pale Ale, crisp & clean, with a slightly hoppy flavor. We're celebrating our 11th year in business!  How well do you know "Our Story"?  Ready the history of WIshful Acres below! Happy Memorial Day!  We'll be open our regular hours this weekend. Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery - taproom open Fridays 4-9, Saturdays 1-8, Sundays 1-5.   Tap Room Bar at our Brewery In our Tap Room this weekend, open Fridays 4-9 pm, Saturdays 1-8 pm, and Sundays 1-5 pm, we will be pouring fresh from our taps: El Dorado - Pale Ale Smart A** - Wit Bier Raspberry Lime - Fruit Beer (supply getting low) Simowa - IPA  Overcast - Hefezeizen German-style Chocolate Donut Imperial Stout Peach Mango Ale - fruit beer Kilted Tartan - Scotch Ale 70-Shilling style Stoutzilla - dark stout Doomwing - IPA Honey Wheat - mild & easy drinking! Homemade Root Beer (non-alcoholic) In addition to fresh beer by the glass, we also have growler fills available for carry-out!   New Beer: Smart A**! We've had our Belgian-style wit beer, Smart As*, on tap a couple of times in the past, and it's always been a crowd-pleaser!  Light in color and body, and mild in flavor, featuring flavors of coriander and sweet orange peel. 4.5% ABV, 12 IBU New Beer: El Dorado! El Dorado is an American Pale Ale that we brewed once before, over a year ago.  American Pale Ale, or APA, is a style of beer that is slightly less hoppy than it's cousin India Pale Ale (IPA).  El Dorado is golden in color with a slightly hoppy flavor.  Brewed with plenty of malted grains and El Dorado Hops.  5% ABV, 35 IBU Upcoming Events at Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery!   Memorial Day Weekend (May 24, 25, 26) we will be open our regular hours: Friday 4-9, Saturday 1-8, and Sunday 1-5.  (Closed Monday through Thursday as normal). June 23: Food Truck Sunday - Kristi & Sons Food Truck (food item TBA) Our 11th Year in Business!  The "Wishful Acres" Story! As we celebrate our 11th year in business, we'd like to share our story with all of you! You may recognize us only from pouring your beer in our taproom, or you may know our story very well. Here is our story, the story of Wishful Acres! Who we are: Meet the Petersons! Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery is a small family farm and craft brewery owned & operated by Nate & Penny Peterson. Nate is the brewer and Penny is the business manager & farmer, and we've combined our passions into one business! Our farm began as a dream, or "wish", in the early 2000s. We lived in the city of Freeport with our young children and Penny began growing with a small, organic, backyard vegetable garden. This garden was expanded in 2009, when we rented a half acre plot of farmland just outside of town and dubbed the business "Wishful Acres Farm" (since we "wished" for our own farm!). Penny sold the veggies at local farmer's markets for a few years & then started the CSA Farm Membership program. Then we made the big move! In early 2011, we found and purchased our own 10-acre farm nearby, where we live & work now! Wish "fulfilled"! 2019 marks our 11th year in business. Our brewery also began as a "wish" way back in 2008, when Nate began homebrewing & crafting his own unique beer recipes. Nate has been brewing as a hobbyist for nearly 10 years. After nearly 6 years of "wishful" thinking & planning for our own brewery... in 2016, we expanded the farm business by adding our own on-site small artisan craft brewery, where we create new, exciting, and drinkable beers! We also feature an on-site tap room, bar, and beer garden that is open to the public. We're celebrating 3 years of business with our brewery! In 2017, our family business finally became large enough that we could both make it a full-time job! Nate left his 17-year commute to Rockford behind. Wishful Acres is now our family's full-time job! Thank you, all of you, for making our years of hard work worthwhile! Our family of 5 (we also have 3 school-age sons) now lives in the country on our family farm, over 5 miles from the nearest small village. We raise several acres of organic vegetables, herbs, hops, and some fruits for our farm membership program & beer-making.
