This Sunday, May 19, from 1-5 pm, Grand Champion BBQ company  "Hammered Swine" will be here selling their delicious smoked Pulled Pork sandwiches!  More Details below! Today, Thursday May 16 from 8-10 pm, we'll be at Mort's Bar & Grill!  Visit Nate there for the "Wreck Room", a monthly event, and we're this month's guests.  Our beer will be on tap at Mort's during the event... scroll down for more details. Our small orchard is in full bloom this week, and boy oh boy are the Wishful Acres honeybees happy!  Honeybee news below. Chocolate Donut Imperial Stout Peach Mango Ale - fruit beer Kilted Tartan - Scotch Ale 70-Shilling style Stoutzilla - dark stout Doomwing - IPA Schnitz & Giggles - German Kolsch style (Almost Gone!) Honey Wheat - mild & easy drinking! Homemade Root Beer (non-alcoholic) In addition to fresh beer by the glass, we also have growler fills available for carry-out!   Pulled Pork Sandwich Day! **Pulled Pork Day**!!! Get a taste of a Grand Champion BBQ master's creations! This Sunday, May 19 from 1-5, we welcome "Hammered Swine BBQ". They will be serving up their large 6 oz smoked Pulled Pork BBQ sandwiches, served on a Hawaiian bun, with Mrs. Mike's local-made potato chips!  Hammered Swine Pulled Pork begins with a homemade BBQ rub (they have their BBQ dry rub available for purchase), gets smoked, then ends with homemade BBQ sauce. They will have 2 homemade BBQ sauces for you to add if desired: a Carolina-style sauce(tangy & peppery) & a Kansas City-style sauce (sweet & spicy). The cost per plate will be $8.50 (includes chips), and Hammered Swine BBQ accepts both cash and credit card.  A couple of their more recent awards:  "Northwest Illinois BBQ Fest" 2018, Grand Champion & "Route 66 Backyard Smoke Out" 2018 & 2019, Grand Champion in both! This is just a brief sample of their many awards. There is a fun story behind their upcoming appearance here at Wishful Acres! When our customer Chris Misler brought us a sample of his homemade pulled pork a few months ago, we were blown away - it was the best we'd ever tasted! So we asked him... "Have you considered starting your own BBQ business?!". The rest is now history. Chris is now fully licensed, with food permits in hand & ready to share his creations with the world... starting right here at Wishful Acres this Sunday!!! Let's show him some support in his brand-new business venture! Visit us at Mort's Tonight for "Wreck Room" Today, Thursday May 16 from 8-10 pm, visit us at Mort's Bar & Grill! Mort's is located at 114 S. Chicago Ave in Freeport (right across the street from the Lindo movie theater).  Mort's is a small pub known for their handmade hamburgers.  Visit Nate there for the "Wreck Room", a monthly event run & DJ'd by an old friend of ours.  During this event there is music & games, and Nate will be interviewed about Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery and will participate in some fun games (even we are not sure exactly what these games will be....!)   :) Mort's Bar & Grill will have our beer on tap during this event! Happy Honeybees! Our small orchard is in full bloom!  The honeybees are in heaven, flitting & buzzing from apple blossom to apple blossom!  In more honeybee news... Our youngest son donned his beekeeper's suit & assisted our neighbor, Beekeeper Tim, with the Wishful Acres honeybees! Tim is increasing the # of beehives here this year from 1 hive to 5 hives! We are sold out of last season's raw honey but will have more available from Beekeeper Tim this summer. :) Upcoming Events at Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery!   Sunday, May 19 - 1-5 pm!
