Goodbye Polar Vortex! Hello February Thaw at Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery!

Brrrr!!!  We hope you've all been safe during this vicious cold snap.  Here at Wishful Acres, we've become accustomed to country living... which means a 140 year old farmhouse and 100 year old barn just don't stay warm in sub-zero weather.  But indoor temps of 60 degrees sure beats the -30 degrees we had outside!  Luckily, the cold snap is almost GONE!  Read our "Polar Vortex" lessons learned below.  :)

This weekend, the temperatures will be much, much warmer - in the 40s!  We'll be here, and we hope to see you soon.

The Brew & Brush classes with artist Mia - update - the Sunday class is almost sold out.  There are still spots remaining for the Sat

Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery - taproom open Fridays 4-9, Saturdays 1-8, Sundays 1-5.

Tap Room Bar at our Brewery
In our Tap Room this weekend, open Fridays 4-9 pm, Saturdays 1-8 pm, and Sundays 1-5 pm, we will be pouring fresh from our taps:
  • Coffee Bean Stout - Dark stout aged with coffee beans
  • Leia's IPA - citrus-hops, not overly bitter for an IPA!
  • Amber Waves - Mild amber-colored ale.
  • Cherry Wheat - fruit beer
  • Unicorn Tears - copper ale
  • Liquid Schwartz - Schwartzbier style (German black lager)
  • Honey Wheat - mild & easy drinking!
  • Homemade Root Beer (non-alcoholic)
In addition to fresh beer by the glass, we also have growler fills available for carry-out!
Polar Vortex lessons learned...

*Polar Vortex* lessons from Wishful Acres... where our 140 year old farmhouse and 100 year old barn are pretty cold inside when the temperature is -30! Lessons we've learned over the years:
- Dripping every faucet means no more frozen & burst pipes
- Electric baseboard heaters without fans are your friends
- Blankets & layers of clothes are a wonderful thing
- Yes, a huge propane heat tank can really be filled & emptied in one week
- And, lastly... a nice cold Wishful Acres beer while looking out the window at how beautiful it really is here in NW Illinois.... well that beer & view sure does wonders to lift the spirits during the cold!
*** Wishing you a HAPPY END to the Polar Vortex! The temperatures for this weekend look wonderful - see you this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! ***
