Ice Skating?! ❄ Yes, it's definitely winter at Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery!

I guess we had a pretty mild winter, relatively speaking, until early to mid January... knock on wood!  Boy, mother nature has sure made up for that mild weather!  In the past few weeks, we've received over 2 feet of snow, seen temperatures of -30 degrees (-60 windchill), and now this week we've been hit by ice storms... we're all really tired of winter now, right?!? Well, here is something that might lift your spirits! This week's ice storm left so much ice on our parking lot that our youngest son spent a couple of hours ice skating!  Yes, it appears that ice skating in our parking lot is really possible when there is this much ice.... scroll down to see this morning's ice skating picture.  (We've since gotten all the ice cleaned up - our tractor's tiller is good for more than tilling our gardens, it also chopped up the ice - and we'll be open as normal this weekend!)

What's our favorite beer to drink in this type of weather?  Right now, our "Coffee Bean Stout" is hitting the spot!  This dark stout was brewed with plenty of roasted & chocolate malts, and then we aged it on coffee beans.  This is definitely a seasonal beer that fits perfectly with this type of weather!

Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery - taproom open Fridays 4-9, Saturdays 1-8, Sundays 1-5.

Tap Room Bar at our Brewery
In our Tap Room this weekend, open Fridays 4-9 pm, Saturdays 1-8 pm, and Sundays 1-5 pm, we will be pouring fresh from our taps:
  • Coffee Bean Stout - Dark stout aged with coffee beans
  • Leia's IPA - citrus-hops, not overly bitter for an IPA!
  • Amber Waves - Mild amber-colored ale.
  • Cherry Wheat - fruit beer
  • Unicorn Tears - copper ale
  • Liquid Schwartz - Schwartzbier style (German black lager)
  • Honey Wheat - mild & easy drinking!
  • Homemade Root Beer (non-alcoholic)
In addition to fresh beer by the glass, we also have growler fills available for carry-out!
Ice Storm = Ice Skating...  in our parking lot!

Melting snow, rain, and two rounds of ice storms passed through here at Wishful Acres over the past few days.  This morning, we awoke to find thick ice everywhere and yet another school cancellation (in the past couple of weeks, we've been off school more than on due to all this winter weather)!  Our youngest son took advantage of the day off school and spent a couple of hours ice skating in our parking lot!  I don't know that we'll ever see something like this again.  :)
