News from the Farm & Brewery

We're having a great farming season so far, and this year marks our 8th season in business!  The vegetables are growing away, and the farm's CSA members (Community Supported Agriculture) will be receiving their 1st vegetable share of the season next week.  The CSA Program is full for 2016; a huge thank you to all of our customers for your support!

In brew news, we received our Federal Brewer's Permit in late April, which puts us one step closer to brewing our craft beer!!!  In the meantime, construction continues on our artisan craft brewery & retail store. We're still on track to have the brewery & retail store open to the public by fall, so stay tuned for more details!

A lot is happening here at Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery... where we grow & (soon) brew locally, not in a galaxy far, far away!!!
Pictured above, our refinished brewery floors (before & after)!  We kept the old cement barn floors, repaired them, and refinished them with a gray sealant.  Awesome!
Pictured above, the brewery tasting room & retail store area of our barn, before & during renovation.  Before picture, above left, was taking just after renovation began, and above right is how the renovation progress looks now.
Pictured above left, our Hops are growing great this year!  Pictured above right, Yoda helps himself to our Sugar Snap Peas.
Pictured above left, our CSA members have been receiving bountiful shares full of our vegetables since mid-May.  Pictured above right, our spring salad greens have been delicious.
Pictured above is one of the bottle labels for our future artisan craft beers!  Our artisan craft brewery will be very unique, with many of our beer recipes incorporating organic items grown right here on our farm!  In addition, we'll be producing a USDA Certified Organic beer, our Honey Wheat Ale!  (We are Certified Organic by MOSA for our hops, vegetables & fruits, beer, and prepared food items).

Do you LOVE craft beer?

Stay tuned: we'll be offering shares in our CSB program (Community Supported Brewery) when the brewery is up & running this fall!

What's a CSB?  Similar to our farm's CSA program (Community Supported Agriculture), a CSB is a membership program that offers members a "share" of our brewery's beer!  There will more than one share size - you choose depending upon how much awesome artisan craft beer you want to drink!   You bring your empty growler to the brewery (we provide the growlers for free with your membership) & get it filled with your choice of our craft beer.  The CSB is paid in a lump sum up front, and in return you'll receive a great price on your craft beer.  Your punch card will keep track of your growler fills, you'll receive a set amount of growler fills with your membership (depending upon the membership size you choose), and you'll get to choose from any of our on-tap beers.

Additionally, you receive other benefits with your membership!  Our CSA & CSB members have access to our members-only day (Thursday afternoons), discounts in our retail store, and invitations to our members-only farm events (potlucks, campouts, etc).  We LOVE our members!  We've been operating a CSA program here at the farm for 6 years and have enjoyed it so much, we decided to offer a CSB as well!

Stay tuned!

Wilted Lettuce with Bacon Vinaigrette Dressing

This time of year, the first spring lettuces are so delicate & delicious.  In my family, it was tradition to enjoy the early spring lettuces in a recipe known as Wilted Lettuce salad.  I recall enjoying this meal with my grandparents as a child, when they harvested the first lettuce from their huge garden.

I hope you enjoy this recipe, here is a link:
