Tomato Tasting Winner 2010

.
Each year, I like to pick my favorite tomato from the varieties I've grown.

This year, the winner is:  Kellogg's Breakfast!

Kellogg's is an heirloom variety beefsteak that was provided to Seed Saver's Exchange by a Dr. Kellogg of Michigan.  How do they taste?  Sweet, low acid.  Texture?  Meaty, juicy, few seeds.  Not mealy - I have no idea how a tomao can be so juicy and meaty at the same time, but it is.  Size?  Huge. Some of these weighed almost 2 pounds.  Overall: Wonderful!!!

I'll definitely be growing more of these tomato plants next year, so keep it in mind if you'd like to try them in your garden.

Thanks for visiting Wishful Acres Organic Farm!
