The frame is up! The 20x12 foot hoophouse (unheated greenhouse) is my current project. Didn't know I was an engineer, did you? No. I've just been looking at pictures of the steel-framed hoophouses for so long, with such envy, that I had a pretty good idea how they were put together. Of course, I'm doing it on the cheap... on a much smaller scale.
All I have left to do is make the frame more sturdy with my hubby's help. I'm thinking 2x4s attached to the bottom sides of the frame. Then the plastic will go on - I'm using a heavy-duty 6 mil clear poly plastic. I've read that the 6 mil can withstand heavy snow and winds. Here's to hoping!
I'm thinking the whole project will cost less than $100.
