Oktoberfest! Grill Out! Hops harvest & more - it's a busy time at Wishful Acres!

We're tapping our brand-new Oktoberfest beer!
Brewed with plenty of Vienna & Munich malts, and fermented with a special yeast strain, our amber-colored Oktoberfest is a malty treat! We lagered this special beer for over 2 months, and at 4.5% ABV, you can easily drink a few!

Hungry for one last grill out?  This Sunday, Sep 9 will be our FINAL grill out of the season!  The food truck is here from 12-5 - details below.

Did you see our Hops Harvest & the fresh wet-hopped beer we made this week?  If not, visit our Facebook page to see pictures & video of this very special hops harvest brew day!

Lastly, if you're attending the Screw City Brewfest in Rockford, IL this Saturday, September 8, stop by our booth and say "Hi"!  Nate will be there pouring 5 different Wishful Acres beers for you!

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Member News

Our recipe database contains cooking ideas for all the vegetables we grow - link here.
Farm CSA Members: In your share of organic items this week:
  • Kale- first harvest of the fall kale!  Try a kale salad, soup, or kale chips! Lots of ideas on our recipe page.
  • Radishes - "French breakfast" variety. The green tops are attached, and also edible!  Try finely chopping the green leafy tops into a mixed lettuce salad.  You'll get a nice, healthy radish flavor punch from the green tops as well as the radish root itself!
  • Eggplant- Small Asian-style eggplant in your shares. We've had a few crop failures this season (as with any season), and this year the eggplant didn't fare very well.  This will probably be the only eggplant of the season.
  • Mustard Greens- Red & Green, beautiful colors & first of the season!  Can be eaten raw mixed into a salad, or cooked. See our recipe page (link above) for cooking ideas!
  • Arugula- fall arugula! This Italian salad green is delicious mixed into salads, or chopped & sprinkled raw onto cooked pizza & pasta
  • Red & Green Lettuce   - A Double-sized bag of our fall lettuce - Red & Green oak leaf lettuce mixed bag
  • Garlic - one bulb each
  • Hot Peppers- A few chili peppers
  • Cucumbers - the now-infamous 2018 Cucumber Bumper Crop is finally slowing down.  You'll only see 2 cucumbers in your share this week.
  • Bell Pepper - Sweet bell peppers. You'll see a crunchy fresh bell pepper in your share.
  • Optional U-Pick Bonus Items: Yellow and Red Apples!  These small organic yellow & red Macintosh apples are crunchy & delicious!  CSA Members may pick from this any of the apple trees in our orchard, they are all ripe now.   Ask us to point out the tree, and we can provide a bag if needed!  This is a CSA Member benefit!  :)
