Live Music & Grill Out this Sunday, Jalapeno Ale is back, plus more Brew & Farm News!

Join us for music, food, beer, & fun this Sunday, July 1!  We have a food truck here grilling out from 12 - 5 pm, and live acoustic classic rock from 2-4 pm!  Details below!

Back by popular demand, our Jalapeno Ale will be back on tap this weekend!  We made more this time, but it's still a small batch of just 20 gallons, so stop out this weekend if you want to ensure you get a glass or growler fill to-go.  Feeling like experimenting? Ask us to mix you a Peach Mango Jalapeno Ale - we'll pour you a 50/50 mix of Jalapeno Ale and our sweeter-style fruit beer Peach Mango Ale!

Farm CSA Members: Group B half-share members and Full Share members, you are scheduled to pickup your organic vegetable shares this weekend. Scroll down for details on this week's CSA items.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Member News

Our recipe database contains cooking ideas for all the vegetables we grow - link here.
Farm CSA Members: In your share of organic items this week:
  • Savoy Cabbage -  An absolutely beautiful head of Savoy Cabbage. Savoy is a wrinkled leaf heirloom variety that originated in Europe hundreds of years ago. Considered a specialty gourmet variety of cabbage, you can use it just like regular cabbage. We've rinsed the whole cabbage on the outside, but you may need to rinse again as you take the leaves apart for cooking.
  • Beets - This is the first harvest of beets this season. Beets are a root vegetable, and are super hardy for storage. If you're not feeling like cooking beets right now, just store in your refrigerator. They'll literally keep for weeks (or months). Beets are great boiled, or pickled, or our favorite way to eat  them - roasted!
  • Australian Yellowleaf Lettuce - Our early spring varieties of lettuce have all succumbed to the hot temperatures. Now we begin to enter the summer crops, which means lettuce begins to exit. We can sometimes coax through a special summer variety of lettuce, which is what we've done here! This heirloom variety of lettuce originates in Australia, and can be grown in hot weather conditions, which is how we were able to get a bag of lettuce growing in our gardens, and into your hands this week!
  • Radishes - We were able to get a small new crop of radishes growing and into your shares. This variety is "Easter Egg", which is a medley of colors. You'll see pink, white, red, and purple radishes in your bag.
  • Sugar Snap Peas- Just a small amount this week. The hot weather we've had on & off is leading to a very short pea season. These are edible-pod peas, which means you simply remove the stem, pop the entire pea into your mouth, & enjoy!  Great raw with dip or salads, lightly sauteed, or roasted.
  • Red Spring Onions - These onions are larger than green onions, but not as large as full sized.  We enjoy harvesting onions for you at this stage, because you can still enjoy the entire onion.... the greens at the top, and the small bulb onion at the bottom! Also sometimes referred to as "knob onions".
  • Zucchini - A bit more this week! You'll see at least 2 varieties in your bag. The lighter green is our favorite, it's a Middle Eastern variety of zucchini. You'll also see the traditional dark green zucchini.
  • Optional Extra Item: U-Pick Mulberries - We have over a dozen mulberry trees, and they're now ripe for picking, so long as the weather holds up!  CSA Members are permitted to pick as many as you'd like, just let us know and we can point you towards the mulberry trees. All of our fruits are a U-pick CSA member benefit.
  • Garlic Scapes - Garlic Scapes are a gourmet treat! These are the top of the garlic plant, and can be eaten just like garlic and onions. See our recipe database (link below).
  • Kale - Kale is one of the most nutritious leafy green vegetables.  See our recipe database for many kale recipes (link is listed at the bottom of this veggie list).
  • Dill - Fresh dill weed!  A little goes a long way. Great on sandwiches, salads, dips, etc.
