Ahoy- Pirate Fest!, New Lemonhead Beer, 1 Year Anniversary, plus more Brew & Farm News!

We have a NEW beer on tap this weekend, which was unveiled at last Saturday's Pretzel City Brewfest in Freeport, and it won 3rd place for Best Beer - selected out of over 100 beers!  Called "Lemonhead", this beer is a light, mild wheat ale brewed with Lemonheads candy!  A mild, lemon beer - perfect for drinking this weekend, with temperatures topping out around 90* all weekend long! In other brewery news, we're celebrating "Talk Like a Pirate Day" this Friday by releasing a couple of rum-barrel aged kegs..... scroll down for more details, you don't want to miss this one!   In Farm News, this week Group A of the half-CSA members, and the full-CSA members, you can pick up your shares anytime during our open hours this weekend!   Also, CSA Members, our Apples & Peaches are ripe and ready to pick in our orchard (just to the left of our barn)!  CSA Members are welcome to u-pick some of these fruits while you're here picking up your veggie share - our u-pick fruit is a CSA member benefit! :)  CSA members, there are some new, unique vegetables in your shares again this week, please be sure to scroll down to the CSA section, where I've included brief descriptions of the new veggies. Yarrrr, September 19 'twas International "Talk Like a Pirate Day"! We be celebratin' by bustin' out da rum barrel aged beer! Dis Friday 4-9 we be tappin' a couple kegs o' rum barrel aged beer! Cruise yer ships out ta Wishful Acres dis Friday, we be supplyin' da pirate eye patches, and Nate be rollin' da pirate jokes all night! (Don't be frettin', da rest o' our regular craft beer menu & mateys root beer be tappin' too). Yarrrrr, we be seein' ya Friday!!!! 1 Year Anniversary Celebration!!! We'll be celebrating the 1 Year Anniversary of our opening on September 29, 30, and October 1, with events all weekend long!  Mark your calendars now: - Friday, September 29 - First tapping of our "Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout" - we brewed this dark, strong Imperial Stout last winter, and aged it in a Buffalo Trace bourbon barrel for over 6 months!  This beer is delicious, and strong - a whopping 12% ABV, and full of flavor!  We'll be tapping it on Friday and serving it up all weekend long! - Saturday, September 30 - Our friend Sean Huguenin will be playing an acoustic set of classic rock -(especially 80s heavy rock) from 12-2 pm and again 7-8 pm  here in the brewery!  An awesome musician and a great guy, we hope you'll be able to stop out to listen to Sean's music set. - Sunday, October 1 - Oktoberfest Celebration - The final Bratwurst grill out of the year!  Join us for our final "Beer & Brats" grill out from 12-5... the only one of the year that can be enjoyed with a glass of our Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout!  We'll have Oktoberfest music playing, brats grilling, and our craft beer menu available. Thanks so much to all of you for your awesome support of our small brewery, it's been an awesome journey so far!   Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) News CSA farm members, you may pick up your vegetables anytime during our open hours this weekend, Friday 4-9, Saturday 12-9, Sunday 12-5.  In this week's veggie share: Acorn Winter Squash - cream-colored heirloom variety Tokyo Bekana - Don't be afraid of this enormous, beautiful, head of Tokyo Bekana!  This is an "Asian Green", the mildest flavored of the many Asian greens grown here.  This particular Asian green is delicious chopped raw in a salad, or lightly sauteed with soy sauce for an Asian dish Arugula - Italian salad green with a delicious peppery flavor Broccoli Cilantro Tomatoes, red, orange "Moonglow" heirloom, yellow "Peach" heirloom Sweet Peppers - mix of green, yellow, or purple! Hot Peppers Cucumber Summer Squash - yellow zucchini & yellow patty pan Garlic Optional extra items: u-pick apples & peaches from our apple & peach trees, located just to the left of our brewery entrance.  This is a CSA member benefit.
