Thank you!, New Weiss Beer, July 2-Beer Brats & Root Beer Floats, plus more Brew & Farm News!

We'd like to extend a heartfelt "THANK YOU" to all of you, our wonderful customers, for making our Father's Day Beer & Brats event an overwhelming, huge success!!!  We're thrilled & thankful not only for last weekend's support, but EVERY day with the way all of you, our customers, support us.  Thank you to all of you for supporting our farm & brewery in every way that you do, you've helped turn our Wishes & Dreams into reality.... and we couldn't do it without you - Thank You!!!

This weekend, we're unveiling a NEW Beer!  This German-style Wheat Beer is similar to our traditional Hefeweizen, but this version is brewed with a different yeast strain that was borrowed from our friends at Pig Minds Brewing in Rockford!  We've named it in their honor - this beer is called "This Little Piggy" (or, as it's a German-style beer, order it in German - "Deises Kleine Schweinchen").  No matter what you call it, this beer is a light, mild, refreshing & delicious Weiss  beer. 5% ABV, 16 IBU.  We're serving this beer in our taproom with a slice of citrus fruit on each glass!

Last in Brewery News, mark your calendars for our next cookout - Sunday, July 2 from 12-5pm for Beer, Brats, & Root Beer Floats!  We'll be firing up our grill for locally-made Beer Brats (raised by local farmers & made at AJ's Lena Maid Meats right around the corner in Lena!) or premium jumbo all-beef hot dogs, served with Mrs. Mike's chips, either option for $4.99.  Add your own condiments: sauerkraut, onions, relish, ketchup, and various mustards. We'll also be serving $3.50 Root Beer Floats, made with our own delicious homemade Root Beer and vanilla ice cream!  Our regular craft beer menu will also be available.

In Farm News, this week Group B of the half-CSA members, and the Full Share members, you can pick up your shares anytime during our open hours this weekend (scroll down for a list of items in your share this week)!  CSA Members, as part of your membership we offer you free u-pick fruit from our farm when in season.  Our Mulberry trees are beginning to ripen with lots of mulberries!  Those CSA Members wishing to pick mulberries from the many mulberry trees scattered throughout our farm, just let us know when you're here to pick up your share.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) News

CSA members, you may pick up your share anytime during our open hours this weekend, Friday 4-9, Saturday 12-9, Sunday 12-5.  In this week's share:
  • Baby Zucchini & Summer Squash - first small harvest of these tender, baby-sized veggies.
  • Kohlrabi - first harvest! Peel the round bulb at the bottom, and enjoy! New to kohlrabi? It tastes like a mix between a sweet carrot and cabbage. Super crunchy & refreshing, delicious raw on salads or dips, but can also be cooked. Included in your share this week as an entire plant, the leaves are also edible if you desire (cabbage-like flavor).
  • Sugar Snap Peas  - sweet edible-pod peas! Slightly smaller harvest this week, this crop really dislikes the 90+ degree weather we had recently, and it's producing less peas.
  • Red Lettuce - oak leaf variety
  • Dill - fresh dill for your dips, sandwiches, egg dishes
  • Romaine lettuce - a loose leaf green Romaine variety
  • Cilantro - great for tacos & taco salads
  • Garlic Scapes - the top portion of the garlic plant - tender stalks full of garlic flavor - use in place of garlic or onions in any recipe!
  • Tender Green Spring Lettuce - delicate light green spring lettuce
  • Radishes - "Easter Egg" Variety - a pretty blend of many colors of round radishes - pink, red purple, and white, like a bunch of colored Easter eggs!
  • Optional bonus item: U-Pick Mulberries available to all CSA Members who wish to pick some
