Cold frame project!

My husband's employer was getting rid of these great wooden bins. He was allowed to take up to 100 of them! Oh, the possibilities for these here on the farm...

So far he has made one haul of them, about 10 in all (he works 40 miles away and has to hook our utility trailer up to the minivan to do this).

Today, I'm spending a beautiful afternoon partially demolishing them. The separators come right out, but the bottoms are nailed in. Crowbar & hammer. My first project with these is to turn a bunch into cold frames! With our old wooden storm windows saved from our former house, these will make awesome cold frames.

A cold frame is basically a mini unheated greenhouse that sits on the ground, covered with glass. Solar heated!
