WE GOT A FARM!

.
Our offer on the farmhouse was accepted yesterday!  It's the same foreclosed 11-acre farmette we've been trying to acquire for about a year now (yep, the same one I posted about last winter).  This time around, the bank was more negotiable.  We're excited but also SCARED TO DEATH!  We'll be carrying 2 mortgages until ours sells.  Yes, you read that right.  But, before you have a heart attack along with me I must say that my wonderful in-laws want to rent our current house until it sells.  Love 'em.  Don't think this deal would be possible without them being willing to rent from us.  (Once our current home sells, we'll be moving my in-laws into a newer trailer on the property, which they will be renting (trailer will be renovated)).

I've been out applying for a couple of part-time jobs this week (which, let me tell you, is no fun when you are on the tail-end of a cold and have a humiliating coughing fit in front of potential employees - but that's how serious I am about this, not letting a nasty cold keep me down! Er, well at least not more than the first 3 days...).

While this is truly a dream come true, we're both have our eyes wide open - the place needs lots of work (the house is not in bad shape - hopefully the furnace, well, & septic will be in good working order, it's sold as-is!).  We definitely have our work cut out for us, but any property that was in our price range and has a good amount of acreage is gonna need some work, quite frankly.  A couple of the smaller outbuildings will need the most work.

I'll keep you all posted, lots pf pictures and tours to come.

Thanks for visiting the All-Natural-Mama blog, home to Wishful Acres Organic Farm!  Or, maybe a name change will soon be in order - to Wish-fullfilled Acres Organic Farm?  :-)

  1. Oh, Oh, Oh, congratulations!!! Don't panic, Things will all work out. We did it and so can you. IN fact, we did it right after my hubby lost his job so we were going only on my salary. Our saving grace was being willing to do almost all the work ourselves to save money. I won't lie, finances got "interesting" toward the end and we had to put off some fairly major projects until we got the house sold.
Who knows, Maybe we'll have to make a field trip to help you out. I've got some well trained child labor you can borrow.
As always, drop me a line if you need some reassurance "off-line".

The big question is are you sleeping at night?!! dreaming up how big to make your garden and what you'll all plant!!! 10mg of melatonin and a nice hot cup of chamomile should help that :) from Wendy, the weed killer!
