It's so easy to make popcorn.  Avoid the microwaveable stuff - it's so laden with chemicals.  I heard a report last hear on NPR (National Public Radio) that detailed lawsuits of microwave popcorn factory workers - they had developed cancer from exposure to the chemicals.  I believe it was lung cancer.  Anyway, here's the easiest way to make popcorn.

Canola Oil
Popcorn Kernals

Take a pan (I use my stainless steel for this), and put it on the stove over high heat.  Next, put in some oil (for a regular sized pan, I use about 3 tablespoons oil).

As soon as you have the oil in, you can add the kernals.  No need to wait for the oil to heat.  Keep adding kernals until the bottom of the pan is covered (just a single layer of kernals).

Then put the lid on and step back.  No need to do anything else!

You don't have to shake the pan.  Just listen.  It will take a while for everything to heat up and start popping.  You're just listening for the popping to slow down, just like microwave popcorn, to where the popping slows down ( a second or two in between each pop).  Done!

Pour immediately into serving bowls.

  2. Did I ever tell you about the time I blew up the stove while making popcorn?
