Whole Wheat Stuffing Bread

Mmmm...this recipe makes the whole house smell like Thanksgiving!

I made this bread recipe the other night and it was gobbled up by everyone.  It's a whole wheat bread seasoned with traditional Thanksgiving spices.  I served it with homemade turkey rice soup using our frozen turkey stock, and onions & carrots from the farm garden.

Whole Wheat Stuffing Bread (bread machine)

3 cups regular whole wheat flour
1 cup higher gluten whole wheat flour (or white flour)
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 Tablespoons canola oil
2 Tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons onion salt
4 teaspoons stuffing seasoning *(see below for details)
2 1/4 teaspoons dry active yeast

Use the 2-pound loaf setting, basic bread.  I like the 1 hour bread feature, but it works just fine on a regular basic bread cycle.

*Seasonings:  I used a Sage Stuffing seasoning mix, if you can't find a seasoning mix, you can make your own. Combine equal amounts dried sage, rosemary, oregano, ginger, marjoram, thyme, and a small amount of black pepper.

Enjoy!

  1. Yum! I LOVE stuffing. I don't have a bread machine but I'm sure it would work fine the "old fashioned way" LOL! Thanks for the recipe.
