This is a special early-week edition of the Farm Fresh newsletter.
The organic heirloom-variety cucumbers, summer squash, and beans are picking up speed, and coming in from the farm almost daily. I'll be keeping a steady supply on hand here at my home in Freeport (near the hospital).
I am growing 3 varieties of cucumbers (salad slicer, pickler, and lemon), 7 varieties of summer squash and zucchini (golden, light green, striped zucchinis, crookneck summer squash, and 3 colors of patty pan: white, yellow, and orange), and currently 2 varieties of beans are ready (flat Italian and yellow wax). You can view pictures and read descriptions of each on my blog here: http://all-natural-mama.blogspot.com/2010/01/2010-vetetable-varieties.html .
If you or anyone you know would like to pickup an order, you can email me a request. It works out well when I can be given a pickup time so that I can have the vegetables ready and on the front porch. The money can simply be dropped into the mail slot next to the front door.
Prices:
- large cucumbers are $1, medium are 50 cents, and if you want a bunch of tiny cukes for pickling I can sell them by the pound
- squash: $1 medium, $1.25 for large or $1.25 for a sandwich bag overflowing
with small
- beans: $2 per bag -each bag weighs around 3/4 pound
Thanks again, everyone!
Penny
