This is the ooiest, gooiest, absolute best grilled cheese sandwich you will ever eat. I've been making it for about 10 years now, several times a year, and we never get sick of it. It's one of my favorite sandwiches. Ever.
Take a bite - you'll think you've died and gone to cheese heaven.
No kidding. It's that good.
Ultimate Grilled Cheese
1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Sliced bread
Melted butter or olive oil
First, mix the ingredients in the bowl (cream cheese, shredded cheeses, mayonnaise, garlic powder).
Then, spread either softened butter or olive oil onto your sliced bread (just on one side).
Spoon some of the mixture onto the non-buttered (or non-oiled) side of the bread. Top with the other slice of bread, non-oiled side facing in.
Then, for an extra treat you can sprinkle more garlic powder onto the oiled side of the bread (to make it more like garlic bread).
You can now cook the sandwich either in a pan, flipping it after a minute or two (until oiled or buttered side is golden brown), or take my shortcut. For a shortcut, I place several sandwiches onto a cookie sheet at bake at 400 degrees fahreinheit for approximately 15 minutes (until bread is golden brown).
This grilled cheese sandwich is awesome served with homemade tomato soup.
