My loving husband and I spent Sunday planting tomatoes. In fact, for a little while 3 generations of my family were helping plant. My mom, husband and I, and our sons. (After a bit, the boys grew restless so she and my dad took them home to babysit). I am so blessed with such a great support system!
6 hours of planting, 288 tomato plants in the ground, soaking up the sun & growing. It will be a delicious summer!
We started planting the peppers as well, and I planted more of them today, and hope to have them all in the ground over the next couple of days.
Now, for my good news. The Freeport Farmers Market has accepted me as a new vendor. Quite a feat, as they haven't been allowing new produce vendors for the past couple of years. Now I'm definitely glad we got all those tomatoes in! :-)
Last week also marked the first harvest of my spring-planted vegetables. I was able to harvest baby lettuce and spinach, green onions, and the first radish. I'm still harvesting the over-wintered spinach, kale, and rutabaga greens.
