Help! I'm stuck in my sewing room!

Okay, not really, but I got your attention!

I'm working on our family's Halloween costumes for this year.

We have decided to dress up as a family of Jedi Knights.  If you're unfamiliar with the term "Jedi", think "Star Wars".  Yes, I live with a houseful of males, all huge fans of "Star Wars".  Yep, even the baby can say "Star Wars".

Speaking of the baby, he turns 2 years old this Halloween!  Yes, he's a Halloween baby.  I'm doing his costume first because it's the smallest and I won't get discouraged right away.

So... how am I making the Jedi costumes?  Well, Jedi wear a simple robe.  It's usually dark brown and made of a rough fabric.  (I believe that in the movies they were made of wool - yes, I also grew up watching the movies!  :-).

I went to my local fabric store and perused the aisles of fabric.  I decided to use a dark brown burlap.  It's very rough and simple, as a Jedi's clothes should be.  It was priced at $3 per yard, but I had a handy dandy 50% off coupon.  I bought 10 yards and it cost $15.  With any luck, I'll be able to create 5 original, handmade Jedi robe costumes for $15.  Oh, and it was $2 for the thread.  Just over $3 per costume!  Of course, the boys can wear them for dress-up in the future and to their school Halloween parties as well.

In the meantime, I'll be sewing away.  There is so much burlap I feel as though it is chasing me out of the room!

I'll post pictures and tutorials when I have them all completed.  I also found a web site with free printable masks...
