Okay, I'm looking for your advice. I just know all of you out there have some ideas for me!
I've suffered from terrible allergies since I was a kid. I've taken many medications over the years. When I was pregnant with my first son, I weaned off the meds. That was a horrible summer, and I think I ended up taking 1/2 or 1/3 doses of the meds, just to cope.
Even after I transitioned into a more "natural" way of living, I still have times of the year where I have to take the meds. I've found that Zyrtec is about the only thing that can completely control the allergies.
When I say I have allergies, I mean year-round allergies (indoor and outdoor), but the indoor are not so severe anymore (no meds in winter). But in certain times of summer..... eyes swollen almost shut & sooo itchy, itchy scratchy throat, constant sneezing, runny nose .... misery. I'm sure there are others out there.
So, here are the natural things I've done or tried over the years, with not much success:
-Allergy shots (not exactly natural, but supposed to build up my immune system to the allergens so it doesn't respond this way)
-Neti pot
-Homeopath allergy tablets
-Raw vinegar
-Raw honey
-Salt water inhalation
When the allergies get very bad at certain points during summer (high pollen counts), nothing but allergy medications work. I am able to get by with 1/3 or 1/2 doses, but still.
Advice? Is there something out there that I can try? I hate taking meds, but I also need to be able to go outside... (the allergy doc has always said to stay indoors, in the air conditioning.... me? No way...)
Thanks!!!
