Strawberry Vanilla Milkshake IPA! CSA Peaches U-Pick! Plus more from Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery!

Have YOU tried a Milkshake IPA? This new style of IPA is taking the world by storm, and we're super excited to introduce ours! "Strawberry Fields" is our Strawberry Vanilla Milkshake IPA, and it goes on tap here this Friday at 4 pm! This beer was made with over 40 pounds of strawberry puree, pounds of lactose milk sugar for a full body & semi-sweetness, then aged with Madagascar vanilla beans! The result is a creamy, fruity, hazy, full-bodied, hoppy IPA at 7% ABV that is surprisingly well balanced! We think it's **absolutely delicious**, and we hope you'll think so, too!

Farm CSA Members: Group B half-share members and Full Share members, you are scheduled to pick up your organic vegetable shares this weekend. Scroll down for details on this week's CSA items.

ALSO, CSA Members: Not only are you able to u-pick red & yellow apples to go along with your veggie share this week, but our Peaches are also ready!  Unfortunately, the peach crop this year is very, very small due to a cold snap last winter. We would ask that each CSA Member please keep to a 4 peaches limit each.  Ask us for a bag, and we can point you to the peach tree (yes, only one of our peach trees actually has peaches this year!).

Wishful Acres Farm & Brewery - taproom open Fridays 4-9, Saturdays 12-9, Sundays 12-5.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Member News

Our recipe database contains cooking ideas for all the vegetables we grow - link here.
Farm CSA Members: In your share of organic items this week:
  • Butternut Squash (Winter Squash) -  The winter squash harvest was rather small this year.  This week may be the only time you'll see Butternut Squash.  Our favorite way to eat butternut squash is soup!
  • Pie Pumpkin (Winter Squash) - This variety of pumpkin is an heirloom called "Amish Pie Pumpkin". These types of pumpkins are small to medium sized, and are traditionally used for cooking, not carving.  You can use these pie pumpkins to make not only pumpkin pie, but you can also substitute them in any recipe that calls for winter squash (for example, you can use them in place of Butternut Squash in a recipe!)
  • Pac Choi / Bok Choy - a bag of big leaves, great stir fried. Often used in Lo Mein, Stir Fry, Asian Soups, etc.
  • Green Beans - First harvest of our early fall crop of green beans!
  • Kale-  fall kale!  Try a kale salad, soup, or kale chips! Lots of ideas on our recipe page.
  • Radishes - "French breakfast" variety. The green tops are attached, and also edible!  Try finely chopping the green leafy tops into a mixed lettuce salad.  You'll get a nice, healthy radish flavor punch from the green tops as well as the radish root itself!
  • Mustard Greens- Red & Green, beautiful colors & first of the season!  Can be eaten raw mixed into a salad, or cooked. See our recipe page (link above) for cooking ideas!
  • Arugula- fall arugula! This Italian salad green is delicious mixed into salads, or chopped & sprinkled raw onto cooked pizza & pasta
  • Bell Pepper - One sweet bell pepper in each share. Red, purple, or green.
  • Hot Peppers - A few chili peppers, they won't be around much longer!
  • Basil - A small bag of fresh basil to enjoy, it also won't be around much longer.
  • Optional U-Pick Bonus Items: Peaches!  Our peach crop is very small this year. We'd ask that members limit themselves to 4 peaches each so that everyone can have some.  Thank you!
  • Optional U-Pick Bonus Items: Yellow and Red Apples!  These small organic yellow & red Macintosh apples are crunchy & delicious!  CSA Members may pick from this any of the apple trees in our orchard, they are all ripe now.   Ask us to point out the tree, and we can provide a bag if needed!  This is a CSA Member benefit!  :)
