Our giant hoop house / high tunnel has been an ongoing project throughout this season. We're now nearing completion, and hope to have the plastic cover on this week!
The crops inside the ground under the hoop house frame are growing well. I chose the same cold- tolerant crops that I've been growing here under low tunnels year round for the past couple of years. No heat will be used for the hoop house, just the heat from the sun combined with super hardy cold-loving veggies.
Our farm's CSA program runs through December 7, so the CSA members will definitely be receiving crops from the hoop house later this fall.
This hoop house is part of a USDA research program. I will be providing growing data & season extension data to the USDA for 3 years.
