This is my first year raising chickens for egg sales. When the day-old chicks arrived, I was surprised to find it so difficult to purchase antibiotic-free feed. I was able to locate it, but had to go the extra mile to do so.
Cheap meat (grocery stores) comes from a Concentrated Animal Feedlot Operation, where thousands of animals are raised in a small, indoor area. Such conditions are stressful and unnatural for the animals. In fact, these conditions breed sickness and disease. The solution is to feed the animals antibiotics, every day, consistently, in their feed (and you don't want to know what's in their feed).
Being fed routine antibiotics... those don't just disappear from the meat and eggs. Hormones too. Nope, it goes right into the consumer.
At Wishful Acres Farm, our animals don't do drugs. Visit us on the web at www.WishfulAcresFarm.com.
