We had strong storms move through the area recently, complete with quarter-size hail and winds strong enough to send my sons and I scrambling for the basement. The morning after the storm, I was walking to check the crops for storm damage (none!) and I saw a newly born baby duckling swimming in a puddle of rain in my greenhouse plastic.
No mother in sight, may have arrived from a neighbor's pond 1/4 mile away.... no idea. My sons have adopted it and we'll keep it safe until it's old enough to survive on it's own.

Thanks for visiting the Wishful Acres farm blog!
This is a baby wood duck. They nest in hollow trees. Do you have any hollow trees in your yard?
