Potty Training Police

The police would be my husband and I.  The suspect in quesion, my youngest son.

He turned 2 on Halloween and is now officially 26 months old.  That was the magic age for my oldest sons to be rid of diapers, and it seems to be for him as well.

We potty train a bit differently.  Since we have hardwood floors throughout our old home, we just take off the cloth diaper & let 'em run around pants-free.

Okay, it's not quite as bad as it sounds.  First, we introduce the potty, starting at around 18 months old.  This guy, my youngest, actually went on the potty at 18 months old, but since he wasn't old enough to pull his own pants down and it was summertime (garden time), I wanted to wait until he hit 2 years.

We've hit it full force this week.  Once they have no diaper or pull-up underwear on, they realize very quickly how it all works.  There were only a couple of cleanups, believe it or not.

I'm writing this on Friday, and it will post early next week.  Hopefully by the time you read this our house will be DIAPER-FREE!  Except at night, which may take a bit longer, but hey I'll take what I can get!

Almost 7 years of changing diapers, with only a 5 month break in between my oldest two, and the youngest two were both in diapers together for a while.... I'M READY for no more diapers!  Yay!

  1. I remember those days. And honestly, I miss them now that my children are far away from home.

  2. This is what I did with my son. We tried underwear first but he informed us he didn't like them. So I let him run around naked, which he calls "in his butt". It worked for him...he understood real quick that he had better use the potty when he was "in his butt"!
