Back from vacation... there's no place like home.

We returned Monday from a 3-day vacation in Wisconsin Dells.  If you're not familiar with it, it's a tourist city in Wisconsin that was a fun place to go in the summer (during my childhood) because of the outdoor waterparks.  Now, though, it's become a year-round mecca of indoor waterpark craziness.  We live about 100 miles away, so it's a relatively short 2-hour drive.  We try to make the trek once each winter.

My parents usually accompany us; it's just too dangerous to keep track of 3 little boys on our own in these huge waterparks, and we stay in a 3-4 bedroom cabin/condo at a resort called the Wilderness.  The place is huge, too huge.... 3 indoor waterparks with things like wave pools, waterslides, 3-story tall childrens water areas, lazy river, tube slides, and hot tubs.  Nuts.

We even had a hospital emergency room visit.  Apparently, my mom decided to bring her medication in a ziplock bag (instead of the bottles), and kept her cell phone in the same bag.  She must have had it on a counter, within reach.  When her phone rang, the boys noticed the bag and the neat little pills inside.  Apparently our 4 year old put one in his mouth (probably thought it was candy) and spit it out, but our 2 year old chewed it down.

It took at least half an hour for us to get the correct name of the prescription (she doesn't know what she takes), but luckily it turned out to be alright as he only ingested one.  The doctors and nurses kept my husband and I at the hospital with him for about an hour and a half to monitor him, but all was well.

So, needless to say, I'm sooooooo incredibly glad to be home and back into our schedule of gym exercise and healthy eating.

What, exactly, is so great about a family vacation, again? To me it was just a bit overwhelming. Thank goodness it's only once a year.

And if you're wondering how I was posting to my blog while on vacation, I'll tell you... I didn't.  Blogger allows users to set a publish date (click "post options") for any future day & time.  Many times, I write several postings at one time and set them to publish throughout the week.  There you go!

  1. Thanks for the tip about publish dates here on blogger. I had no idea! It's always nice to get home after a vacation! We went to Florida in November and what we missed most about home was our free weights and good healthy food! :)
